Aurelia Huffman Bagwell

Aurelia was born on May 26, 1942 in Houston, MS. After her family move to Eupora, MS, she met the love of her life, Charles Bagwell. They grew up together, and the couple married on July 26, 1964. While they were studying at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, the Lord blessed them with two children, Emily and John.

Using her music degree from Belhaven College, Aurelia enjoyed teaching children at a private school in the Mississippi Delta. She also taught private piano lessons in their home. Since musc was one of her passions, she was a regular choir member at each of the churches that Charles pastored. Aurelia was the choir director while they served at First Baptist of Summer.

In her spare time, Aurelia enjoyed birdwatching, gardening, and cross stitching. Once her grandchildren came along, she loved spending time with them, whether it was exploring outdoors or doing crafts. Aurelia also enjoyed spending time with her great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Jerrod Huffman. Aurelia is survived by her husband, Charles Bagwell; her children, Emily Frederick (Barclay) and John Bagwell (Amy); her grandchildren, Courtney Frederick Dyke (Mitchell), Parker Bagwell (Lauren), Blake Bagwell, and Clay Frederick (McKenzie); and her great granddaughter, Elaine Dyke.

The family would like to thank the Bagwell Life Group, elders, staff, and other members of Valleydale Church for all the love and support they have shown to Aurelia and the rest of the family. They would also like to thank their dedicated caregivers, Diane Winterbottom and Wanda Wright, along with Kim Foster (nurse) and the Compassus hospice care team.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023 at Eupora City Cemetery at 1:00 pm, in Eupora, MS. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 14, at Valleydale Baptist Church, 2324 Valleydale Road, Birmingham, AL 35244 at 11:00 am with visitation at 10:00 am.
