

Mr. Myers is predeceased by his mother Daisy Ethel Bassel Myers, his father David Eugene Myers, and his son Phillip Keith Myers.
Walter Myers is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Merle Frances (Whaley) Myers. They were married in Montgomery, AL, on November 11, 1950.
Walter is lovingly remembered by his sons Danny (Linda) Myers and Kerry Myers and his grandchildren Rebecca (Brett) Leslie, Brandon (Courtney) Myers, Jared (Lynn) Myers, and Jance Myers. Walter had 12 brothers and sisters, and he is survived by his sister, Johnnie Mae Black and brothers Clifton Myers and William Myers, and four great-grandchildren: Isabella Noelle Myers (4), Ryland Myers (2), Elizabeth Leslie (2), and Hudson Myers (1). Amber Henninger (Travis) and Brandi Hall (Jason) were also like grandchildren to him.
Walter Myers was born in Deatsville, AL on February 26, 1929. He earned his Bachelors Degree and Master’s Degree from Troy State University. He enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 18 on October 4, 1947. After nine years of service, he joined the United States Air Force in October 1956, where he achieved the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He retired from active duty on May 31, 1977, and continued in civil service at the Naval Air Station Pensacola for fifteen years until 1992.
Walter Myers was a member of Niceville Assembly of God in Niceville, FL, and he enjoyed square dancing, spending time with his family, bowling, and reminiscing with other veterans at Eglin Air Force Base.
The visitation will be held at Kilgroe Funeral Home, 2219 2nd Ave N, Pell City, AL on Friday, February 19 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:30 p.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Lett officiating. Walter Myers will be buried at Forest Hills Cemetery, 9504 US 331 in Montgomery, AL with Rev. Gary Dopson officiating a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2016.
