He was born November 29, 1927 in Peoria, the son of Herman and Lena Uphoff Pille. He married Shirley Rapp on July 14, 1953.
Merle is survived by his ex-wife and partner, Shirley Pille of Peoria; one son, Jeffery Pille of Peoria; two daughters, Michelle Pille and Cynthia Pille both of Peoria; one grandson, Sam Pille of Austin, TX; and one brother, Willis Pille of Peoria. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Merle was a Senior Planning Analyst at Caterpillar until his retirement on January 1, 1990.
He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran. Merle was also a thirty-eight year member of AA. He was very proud to be thirty-eight years sober. Merle was an Army Veteran.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to services also at the chapel. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery with military honors.
