Debra retired from the State of Texas Office of the Attorney General as a Legal Secretary in 2008. Before retiring, she was involved in the Austin Legal Secretaries Association, teaching classes, attending meetings, and earning professional certifications including her Legal Assistant certification. In retirement she continued her lifelong needlework hobby.
Debra was devoted to her family, helping raise her younger brother after her father passed away. She raised three sons and a foster son and opened her home to others. She was a fantastic role model, refusing to surrender to the chronic illness and continued to be active and involved in life as she could be, even to the last moments of her life.
The family expresses heartfelt thanks to Dr. Paul Pickrell and his staff, Dr. Robert Wills, Mary Jo Hart, and the other staff of APA, and Dr. Friedman and the doctors and staff at Austin Diagnostic Clinic.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Betty Rehn. She is survived by her husband Robert; sons, Alan, Mark, David, and Jacob; and her brother and his wife, Karl and Penny.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Arthritis Foundation, www.arthritis.org.
