Ralph McCune Rall was born on November 22, 1938 in Los Angeles, CA to Thomas Elmer Rall and Norma McCune Rall. He passed away unexpectedly on Sunday September 13, 2020 while visiting family in Gilbert, AZ. Ralph is survived by his wife, his four children, and thirteen grandchildren.

Ralph graduated from UCLA in June of 1961 shortly after losing his father from heart disease. He dedicated his career to aerospace engineering starting off with Douglas Aircraft Co. which later became McDonnell-Douglas. He continued his career with Rockwell working at the Downey, CA facility for many years. Eventually Boeing took over the aerospace industry and he retired after 40 years of service. The greatest accomplishment of his career was being apart of the Saturn V Rocket launch in 1967. The successful launch of the Saturn V directly resulted in the Apollo mission to the moon in 1969.

Even though Ralph’s career was important, he treasured his family above everything. He lived a wonderful life with his beautiful wife Marva for over 50 years. They had four children and thirteen grandchildren which brought such joy to his life.

Ralph was an avid Dodger fan dating back to the Brooklyn Dodger days. It was a rare occasion to see him without his Dodger hat on. He loved to attend ball games in person, watch it on the television, and even listen to Vin Scully on the radio. The man was a truly dedicated fan.

Ralph was a devout Christian and served in a variety of capacities throughout the years. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he was a kind, sweet, understanding man that followed the motto, “What would Jesus do?” He had great faith in people and their ability to change as they chose to come unto Christ. He blessed the lives of so many people.

Graveside services held at the Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Memorial Park and Mortuary in Riverside, CA on September 28, 2020.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Ralph. As we always called him growing up “Uncle Ralph”. It was always so much fun seeing Ralph when we visited Aunt Norma. He always made us feel so important even though we were so much younger. In later years I could see what a good man he was. Filled with virtue and patience, always such a good example! What a fine man! He will be missed.

We are so sorry to hear of Ralph’s passing. We will miss him every time we see the house and will remember fondly all the help he and Marva gave our family during the last 32 years. RIP Ralph.
