A special person left life on earth March 28, 2020. Baruch I. Torner left peacefully in his sleep early Saturday morning with his wife by his side.
Born in Tel Aviv when it was still Palestine, he was the only child of Jacob and Hanah Torner. His growing up years were during turbulent times in the area including the war for Israel’s independence. As a teenager, he helped with the struggle and, at times, described what it was like.
After finishing high school in an independent Israel, he came to America in February, 1951 to go to college at the University of Pennsylvania. He joked about the fact that he didn’t realize the weather temperatures were in “F” rather than “C” when he chose the college. Baruch earned a degree as an electronic engineer.
Eventually Baruch opened his own business in Philadelphia repairing electronic equipment and installing stereo systems. For relaxation, he pursued his hobbies of photography and model trains .During these years he raised his family, ran a business and eventually retired to South Florida.
In South Florida, he continued to practice his photography and worked in a camera store. In time he met his current wife and they shared over 20 wonderful years in Delray Beach.
Baruch is survived by his loving wife, Luene, Rahbin & Carol Bennett (brother-in-law, sister-in-law), Melisa & Ed Hallock (sister-in-law, brother-in-law), nieces Heather [Kevin], Holly [Jamal], nephews Cort, Simon, and Jared [Adrian] and great-nephews Malachi & Josiah.
