Connie was a devoted wife and mother who always put her family’s needs before hers. She had a passion for helping others and touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She was always a help to her church, most recently, St. Mark’s Catholic Church and their Outreach Ministry where she volunteered for 23 years and was well known for her 12-14 hour consecutive days diligently working at the Annual White Elephant Sale and stocking the Outreach Pantry. She loved to cook Italian food and pastries and prepared many wonderful meals for her children and their friends along with her friends. Connie had a quick wit and it surfaced when you least expected it! She had an inner strength which manifested as love, generosity and kindness to all. She had a compassionate and calm spirit, one that comes from knowing God. Because of her strong faith in God, even when facing deep sorrows, she was never bitter and through wisdom nonjudgmental and loving.
Connie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Eugene “Gene Merco”, her father, Joseph, who she adored, and her mother, Teresa, who she loved dearly and later in life cared for. She was also preceded in death by her dear grandson, who she held close in her heart, “little” Michael Mercogliano, Jr., her wonderful brother, Vincent and, the beautiful mother of Michelle and Craig, Carol Mercogliano.
Connie is remembered with love by her children, Robert, Michael, Cathy and Donna, her grandchildren, Michelle, Craig, Jennifer, Dina, Julie, Genny, Nicole and Katie, her great grandchildren, Corey, Marti, Lexie, Lauren, Haley, Lena, Vinnie, Robbie, Julianna, Isabella, Calyssa, Brittany, Kayla, Jake, her great great grandchildren Skyler and Ayden and her adoring nieces and nephew, Teresa, Grace and Vincent.
