Barbara was born in Moncton to Georgie and Ellsworth Ritcey. Barbara enjoyed spending her childhood along with her parents and brother John Ritcey (deceased) with summers at the family cottage at Shediac. Barbara attended Mount Allison University in Sackville before moving to Montreal to complete her studies in Nursing at Montreal General Hospital. She then utilized her degree to become a stewardess with Trans Canada Airlines. She formed life-long friendships as a “Stew” and became a proud member of the Canadian Maple Wings Association after her retirement from the airline. Barbara married Frank Joseph Staskow in 1955 and they were married 50 years before she lost Frank in 2005. She was an active parishioner in St. Johns United church in Pointe-Claire. She loved to be active including playing badminton, bridge, swimming and cross-country skiing. She also volunteered in the community via Meals on Wheels and enumerating during elections. She is survived by her sons John Staskow (Rhonda) and Michael Staskow and her niece Pam Hosford and nephew Peter Ritcey. She will be sadly missed.
