Michael "Roy" Elroy Maddison

After a lengthy illness, Michael Elroy Maddison passed away at the age of 73 in Port Alberni on June 8th, 2023. Throughout his illness his bravery and tremendous strength was very evident and he laughed until the end.

Always a good sense of humour; his great one-liners were loved by so many. Michael, or "Roy", loved the music of the 1960's and hunting. He was a very kind, generous and caring man. He started working at the local Somass Mill in 1971 and continued there until he retired in 2009.

His wife Mary Elizabeth was the love of his life. He was a caring, loving father to Troy (Tayla) and Todd (Niketa). He was a proud Papa to his four grandchildren Elizabeth, Michelle, Kain and newly born Lia. Roy also leaves behind his brother Raymond (Mary Ann) and sister Patti (Jack). Also special to him were his many cousins, nieces and nephews, and his long-time friends Jim and Pat Schellenberg.

A special thank you to the Dialysis Centres of Port Alberni and Nanaimo, and the many doctors and nurses involved in Michael's care throughout the years. In memorium, donations may be made to the kidney foundation or to the charity of your choice.

At Roy's request, no formal service will be held. A casual gathering with tea may be arranged for friends and family at a later date
