It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Mervin Hayden, on Monday February 8, 2016 in Regina, SK. Mervin was a hard-working man, having begun his career as an ironworker while still in his teens, and having retired only a year ago. Some of Mervin’s favourite activities throughout the years were hunting, fishing, riding horses, making leatherworks and cooking. More than anything, he loved his family. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were always his first priority, giving everything he could of himself to them unselfishly. He is survived by his sons, Adrian Hayden and Clifford (Laura) Hayden; daughter Elaine (Adam) Hayden-Booker; grandchildren Tony Wilm, Caitlin Hayden, Cori Hayden, Devon Yanoshewski, Patience Hayden, Brittany Hayden, Courtney Schrader and Skye Schrader; great-grandchildren Ethan Hayden and Abby Hayden; sisters Noella Sylvester, Dianne Blenkinsop, and Theresa Reimer; brothers Fred Hayden and Octavius “Poncho” Hayden, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents William and Rose Hayden; brothers Henry Hayden, Claude Carl Hayden and Peter Hayden; sisters Merle Belhumeur, Rose Hayden and Lillian Rushton; nephew Orville Belhumeur; and brothers-in-law, Terrance Kardash and Joseph Sylvester. Prayers will be held at Lee Funeral Home, 3101 Dewdney Avenue on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 7:00pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity RC Church, 5020 Sherwood Drive on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 11:00am with Rev. Ronald Andree presiding. Interment of cremated remains will be held privately at a later date.
