Ruth was born in Juniata, Nebraska to Walther and Ella Schrieber, the oldest of their four children. She received a teaching certificate from Concordia Teachers College, River Forest, Illinois, and graduated from Harris Teachers College, St. Louis, Missouri. Ruth was a rostered Lutheran school teacher, having taught in many schools in Illinois and Missouri, before serving for fifteen years at Gethsemane Lutheran School in Maplewood.
Ruth was married to the Rev. Paul Pallmeyer, in 1951, and served with him as a missionary in Japan for over five years. They lived briefly in Hartford, Connecticut, and then for many years in St. Louis, Missouri, before making their home in the Twin Cities in 1975. Beloved wife of over 68 years, Ruth was mother to six children, creative teacher, exuberant baker, consummate baby-holder, avid reader, gracious hostess, ingenious crossword solver, life-long learner, eager traveler of the world, and faithful child of God. She lived in the grace and hope of God’s eternal love, and steadfastly witnessed to that love in a life of service.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Edith Burgdorf. Ruth is survived by her devoted husband, Paul; her sister, Elsabeth “Betty” (the late Paul) Pohland; her brother, Walter (Margaret) Schrieber; and her brother-in-law, Richard Burgdorf. She is also survived by her children and their spouses, Barbara (William) Miller, Thomas Pallmeyer (Carol Phillips), Rebecca Pallmeyer (Dan McAdams), Dwight Pallmeyer, Sara (Jack) Nelson-Pallmeyer, Lois Pallmeyer (John Barnicle); her grandchildren, Adam (Jennifer) Miller, Aaron Miller (Amanda Hakemian), Samuel (Angela) Miller; Kristen Pallmeyer (Jake Jackson), Alyssa Pallmeyer; Ruth McAdams (Andrew Bozio), Amanda (Jonathan) Bauer; Hannah Pallmeyer (Zack Mensinger), Audrey Pallmeyer, Naomi (Justin) Betker; Rachel and Noah Pallmeyer and their mother Amy DeWerth; Madeline, Simon, and Miriam Barnicle; great-grandchildren, Zoe, Emily, Henry, Caleb & Anne Miller and Everett Bauer, and many nieces and nephews.

Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day;
earth's joys grow dim, its glories pass away;
…heav'n's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee;
in life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.
