Dorothy “Dot” Helen (Washnoch) Havelock, age 91, of Troy, MI, passed away Friday, June 18th, 2021. “Dot” was born in Uniontown, PA, on April 11th, 1930. She graduated from Pershing High School Class of ’48 in Detroit. After High School “Dot” worked at Burroughs Corporation in downtown Detroit, with her future sister-in-law Lois. As fate would have it, Lois arranged a blind date for her brother Dave & friend “Dot.” The pair became steadfast partners for life. Dorothy married Dave on October 28th, 1950. “Dot’s” passions for family, cooking, baking and cake decorating kept her busy as a stay-at-home Mom during the 50’s and 60’s. When the kids were older, Dorothy went back to work in 1964 for the Royal Oak Assessors Office. She retired from the Royal Oak County Clerk’s Office. During retirement, “Dot” and Dave spent the best years of their lives on "Golden Pond," Grand Lake, MI. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Dave of 67 years, parents Jesse and Mary Washnock, and 7 siblings. Dorothy is survived by her sister Catherine (Washnock) Buchanan; Daughter Merri Havelock-Johnson (Bill); Son David Havelock (Katherine); Son Kirk Havelock (Annette); Grandson Michael Havelock (Victoria); and Great-Grandson Phoenix Havelock. Dorothy was a wonderful, mother, grandmother and friend. Her ever-present love and care were abundant in her life. Her legacy will continue on through those whose lives she touched.
