Hi there,

My dad mentioned below that he knew Mark since college, therefore I was lucky enough to have known him my whole life as a result of their friendship since before I was born.

Mark was very much like an uncle to me. He played games with us, bought gifts for us, and would genuinely care about anything and everything we had to say. He would visit us many times over the years, and as us kids grew up and gained even busier schedules, it was always a treat to hear that he was going to drop by to hangout with Dad. In return, I’d always try to carve out some time to stick around and hangout and catch up with the both of them.

I think my most favorite memory of him was when us kids found out that “Mark” was his real name. 😂 Since I can remember, we knew him by the name “Guido”, which is apparently the name of a character from a movie. I don’t remember how it came about, but when Dad told us that his name was actually Mark and not Guido, we were so mad! So mad that the next time that “Guido” came over, we let him know all about our dismay!

To us, Guido was the best—he could do no wrong, so for us to learn that we had been “lied” to about his name for our entire tiny lives, we were crushed. It’s so funny to think about how upset we were—and I’m sure Dad and Guido were dying of laughter about it—but Guido sincerely apologized to us for how upset it made us.

And that is why Guido was a great man. He realized how big of a deal something like that was to us, and he didn’t just brush it off like some folks might. He made sure to treat it as important as we thought it was. I will always remember that about Guido.

I don’t think I ever told Guido that I loved him, but I hope he knew regardless. He will always be remembered and sorely missed.

Forever in my heart,

Marleyna

My condolences to the family. This is such sad news about Mark.
I have many great memories of Mark, Gerry, Patty and I enjoying time together. Bbq, kings basketball, fishing on the American river, Bodega Bay weekends and kite flying. Many great times! May you rest in peace my friend.

My Condolences go out to Marks family. I was shocked to here of his passing.

I met Mark at Toys R Us, we worked together for many years. Mark was always a lot of fun, he always had a smile on his face. Went to many work parties, and many camping trips with the gang to the ice house area. He was always the life of the party! Mark you will forever be missed...I will see you another day, thats for sure. Mike Compton..AKA J.R.

I was so shocked to hear of my beloved friend's passing. Mark & I have been friends for over 30 some odd years. We met while working at Toys R Us and remained friends long after we both found other jobs. I will forever cherish the times we shared. We laughed & cried together and always knew we'd be there for each other in the good times and bad times. Your intelligence, wit, charm and those great Hugs you always gave will be truly missed. Rest in Peace my friend. Love you with all my heart. Peace & Love to the family.

I just read the notice from Diane at 4:30 this morning and am devastated. I've known Mark since college and he has been very close with my family for over 30 years (Godfather to my youngest daughter). This will be very hard on my kids. Mark and I were planning to have lunch again together last week but I had to postpone...I wish I hadn't.

Dear Wieseler family, know that Mark was cherished and revered by us and he will live on forever in the great memories we have.
