Marie L. Grotegeers passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2020. Born June 3, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Joseph and Anna Gillering. The beloved wife of the late Eugene B. Grotegeers; loving mother of Jeff Grotegeers (Carol), Glenn Grotegeers (Kathy), JoAnn Grotegeers, Jean Sowa (the late Jack), Gerard Grotegeers (Cathy), Gary Grotegeers, Janet Lubinski (Joe) and the late Gregory Grotegeers. Loving mother-in-law of Maria Grotegeers. She is also survived by her many grandchildren, Renee, Kathleen, Glenn Jr., Ann Marie, Michelle, Gina, Matthew, Lauren, Joseph, Christine and Jade; great grandchildren, Gabrielle, Samantha, Ayla and Jamisen; great-great grandchildren Layla, Aubrey and Roman; dear aunt of Robert Dierker and Margie Fister.
Marie enjoyed spending time with family, listening to the likes of Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. She loved to laugh and dress up as a clown and entertain groups as “Granny Giggles”. She was known as “Mrs. G” by many Mercy High Schoolers where she worked as a Cafeteria Manager. Marie loved visiting her Texas relatives, the late Sophie Anderson, the late Lillian Anderson and Joann Horne, enjoying the surf and sun. Marie was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
