He was the loving husband of Sandra (Sylvester) for 46 years; the beloved father of Denise Westenhofer and Traci Marra; and grandfather of Christopher and Thomas Westenhofer.
John was a graduate of Maine Maritime Academy and served as Lt. Commander in the Navy Reserves. He was an executive for Mackay Communications and earlier in his career was employed by Sea-Land Services, Inc.
A memorial service will be held for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
