Teresa Butner, 84, of Sarasota, Florida died peacefully on Sunday May 10th after battling leukemia for over a year. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the beloved wife of Gary, who predeceased her in 2021.
Teresa graduated from Naples High School and was president of her graduating class. She graduated from UCF Magna Cum Laude and from Rollins College with a Master’s Degree. She was a wonderful teacher and guidance counselor at Audubon Park Elementary School and Teacher of the Year for Orange County in 1990.
Teresa was an active member in the church and dedicated many hours of service in her retirement to helping others. In addition, she and Gary loved to travel throughout the United States, Europe, Africa and Australia.
Teresa is survived by her son, Mark, and his wife Jill of Winter Park, Fl., daughter, Nancy, and her husband, David of Indian Harbour Beach, FL; as well as four grandchildren, Morgan, Brandon, Lindsey, and Brooklyn, and one great granddaughter, Blake.
A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, 1603 Greenwood St., Orlando, FL 32801 on Friday June 5th 1:00.
