Ramon G. Abrego, age 89, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2018 with his loving family at his side. Ramon was born August 6, 1928 in Laredo, Texas to the late Ignacio and Guadalupe Abrego. Also preceding him in death are his loving wife of 66 years, Elida and his daughter, Juanita De La Cruz. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Cindy O. (Ramon) Zacarias; Laura (Lazaro) Rodriguez, Maria "Lupe" (Mario) Gomez, and Elida (Raul) Franco; grandchildren, Ramon Jr. (Karisa), Joel (Aurora), Maria (Jorge), Veronica (Andres), Mario Jr., Christina (Miguel), Juanita, Jesus Jr. (Marjorie), Samuel, Victoria, and David; great grandchildren, Elida, Tatiana, Julianna, Angelica, Alejandro S., and Alejandro Z.; one great-great granddaughter, Lilly; brother-in-law, Gilberto "Gilito" (Dora Alicia), and several nieces and nephews. Ramon worked 39 years of devoted service to Inland Steel. He was a faithful member of Emanuel Pentecostal Church of God, "Harbor Church in East Chicago", where he served as past board member, treasurer, and usher. He was a loyal Cub fan, and his family is thankful that he was able to experience a Cubs World Series win. Visitation will be Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 4-9 pm at Emanuel Pentecostal Church of God (3802 Elm St.; East Chicago, IN 46312), and again on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 9:00 am until the time of his funeral services at 10:00 am at Emanuel Pentecostal Church of God with Rev.
