Robert, who preferred his nickname, Cuzie, began his life in Idar-Oberstein, Germany on July 8, 1955. He moved to the United States in 1957. Being a child of a career military father, he lived in many places including Germany, Colorado, California and New Mexico.
At 17, he joined the U.S. Army. He served from 1972 - 1975 earning the rank of Sergeant. He met the love of his life in 1976 and married Margaret Soares on August 5, 1978. They began their family 2 years later and had 2 daughters and a son. He worked a variety of jobs but he most enjoyed working with his brother running a washer/dryer rental/repair business both in Seaside (when Ft. Ord was still active) and in Killeen, Texas (Ft. Hood).
Cuzie loved backpacking in the Ventana Wilderness, riding his motorcycle, gambling at the Marina Club and Las Vegas, drinking caramel frappes, eating sweets, watching old TV shows, the Walking Dead and the SYFY channel; and being Opa to his 6 grandkids.
He was finally able to rest on June 22, 2018 after enduring many years of illness. His family wishes to thank and acknowledge the doctors and nurses at the VA clinic in Marina and the VA hospital in Palo Alto who cared for him for many years; especially Dr. Norman Gross.
