Meeker resident, Richard “Ricky” A. Wyrick, 60, died Wednesday, April 8, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 18, 1954 in Shawnee to Bud and Frieda Wyrick. Ricky graduated from Shawnee High School in 1972. He then went on to work many jobs until starting at Tinker Air Force Base in 1985. He worked as a machinist and warehouseman and retired after 22 years. Ricky enjoyed hunting in the Idabel area with his uncle Hilton and cousin Brad. He also loved spending time at Lake Thunderbird and enjoying the beautiful sunsets.
Ricky was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cecil “Papu” and Gertie Stephens; Lloyd Grant Wyrick; twin brother, Ronnie Wyrick; and brother, Jerry Don Wyrick.
He is survived by his son, Travis Wyrick; step-daughters, Crystal Shafer and Danielle Shafer; step-grandchildren, Taylor Emmons and Zania Shafer; aunt, Donnie Phillips; uncle, Hilton Phillips; cousins, Brad Phillips, Terri Phillips, Kristi Phillips, Chance Phillips, Tara Phillips, Terri Mize, Sherri Graham, and Jennifer Wyrick; niece, Jerrita Wyrick-Taylor; former wife, Cherrill Baxter.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30pm Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Resthaven Funeral Home with Larry Sparks officiating.
