He was born to the late Nicholas and Betty (Peters) Pelegano on August 15, 1944 in Waterbury. Robert was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, he was honorably discharged in 1966. Following his service, he graduated from Quinnipiac University and then began working for the Department of Children and Families. He served the department in several roles including acting as a social worker, court liaison, and a youth service officer. He enjoyed trips to Rhode Island, especially the Charlestown Breachway, fishing, automotive work, and Disney trips with his family.
In addition to his beloved wife he is survived by his sons: Shawn Pelegano and his wife Theresa of MA, and Brandon Pelegano and his wife Josephine of Lebanon; daughter-in-law: Cheryl Belair of Shelton and was predeceased by his son Robert Pelegano; grandchildren: Alex Pelegano and his wife Tiffany, Bobbie Acevedo and her husband Irving, Joseph Pelegano, Ryan Pelegano, Saraphina Pelegano, and Johnny Pelegano and a great granddaughter, Camila Acevedo.
His funeral will be held on Friday, February 17th at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St Southington to St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery.
