Mom was raised on a farm on Potlatch Ridge, ID. She attended grade school at Stony Point Elementary and graduated high school at Lapwai High. Shortly after high school mom married Walt Zimmerman and they had two daughters, Cheryl and Bobbie. They moved to Spokane in 1954. Mom worked for the telephone company for many years. After her divorce from Walt in 1962, she married Norm King in 1966 and they were married for 36 years. They had two daughters, Tami & Kristi and Son, Chip. Norm proceeded mom in death in 2002. Mom helped Norm as a bookkeeper in their business until they both retired.
Mom loved Jesus, her family, getting her nails done, bowling & dancing. She was a perpetual Weight Watchers member. She would go have coffee with her W.W. friends, after every meeting. Mom loved her church family and her Bible study group. Mom also loved all sports and especially Gonzaga Basketball. She loved being with all of her kids and grandkids. We all remember her great BBQ’s and pool parties.
If any of you have ever sent mom a card, please know that she kept every single one of them. Navigating Facebook was a bit of a challenge for mom on her IPad, as all of her kids can attest to the phone call we all got, “I can’t get Facebook to work.” We would finally be able to help so her Facebook would “work.”
Mom’s faith was so strong and we are all at peace, knowing that mom is now with Jesus and reunited with so many of her family and friends that went before her.
Mom’s Celebration of Life will be on Friday July 23rd at 2:00 P.M. at Turning Point Open Bible. 11911 N Division Spokane WA 99218.
