Diane and I worked together at Richelieu Valley Regional High School. She was a very intelligent and interesting woman. I remember when she decided to go teach up north, I thought she was so courageous. She and I went shopping for her Canada Goose jacket and warm winter boots . We had some very good times together.
My sincere condolences to the family.

My sincere condolences to Diane’s family for their loss.
Diane and I worked together for several years at Richelieu Valley Regional High School. I had the privilege of team teaching a math class with her one year while I was the Coordinator for Student Services. One of Diane’s many lovely traits that I remember the most, was the kindness she displayed with all her students. She was extremely patient and saw humour in the most difficult of situations. She gave freely of her time to all who asked for help.
She was a very determined lady who graciously overcame many obstacles in her life. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Diane and I knew each other since childhood some 70 plus years.
I was having a telephone conversation with Diane on the morning of the day she went to sleep. We laughed, kidded each other, cried and ended the conversation with chat soon love you. Diane knew her time was close but I really didn't want to know.
What a shock when I received word she had passed later that day. I cried not because she was gone but because she was at peace and with her loved ones.
She had visited me when we lived in North Carolina and we had such a great time reminiscing and each other's company for a few days.
One of my sweet memories was when we were kids. Her brother Lyle was studying to be a doctor. Oh his bedroom had such cute objects, photos and books. What a time we had. Till her Mom found us and that ended that.
God bless you my dear friend. Rest easy in the arms of your special family.
You had better have a special greeting for me when I eventually join you.
Love you always my dear Diane
Your friend forever,
Sue and my family

Diane and I worked together for many years at RVRHS. We travelled together on a vacation to Turkey where we both were introduced to Turkish pizza and spas. We also went to Germany where Diane's basic German came in handy. She loved her time up north; we'd talk about it when she was home for the summer.
I hope that you have great memories, as I do, of Diane.
My condolences to you, her family.

My sincere condolences to Diane's family. She and I worked together in the science department at Richelieu Valley Regional High School and we graduated together with Master's degrees from Concordia University.
She had a wonderful sense of humour, was very intelligent, and was so helpful to me when I started teaching.
I am truly sorry for your loss.

Ms. Hemmings got this non-science girl through grade 11 Chemistry. She was always supportive despite my fear of the periodic table and Bunsen burners. I remember her as funny, kind, and she did her very best to teach each student- not just the class! Condolences to her family.

Said and I offer our deepest sympathies on the passing of Diane Hemmings. I knew Diane as a colleague and friend at Richelieu Valley Regional High School. I worked closely with her in my capacity as a Vice-Principal and upon her retirement, I kept in touch and was interested in the work she did up North. Diane and I lived fairly close to one another in Vieux Longueuil so I was the one to pick her up and off we would go for our annual breakfast to join the group of retirees from the high school, where we had worked most of our careers. We would chat nonstop about the events we had enjoyed at the school: our Tuesday evening celebrations celebrating Tuesday, the pot-luck dinners, Christmas celebrations, graduation and awards, and, of course, funny incidents that occur in the day-to-day running of a school. She enjoyed life, was always optimistic, determined, and struggled with pain in the latter years. She was strong, enjoyed being with people, and loved to laugh.

Diane Hemmings was a dedicated chemistry teacher who cared about her students and their futures. I remember when she took time to call me outside of school to encourage a career in chemical engineering or chemistry. Our condolences to her family.
