

Born in Brooklyn, he settled in Grasmere in 1962.
Mr. Wolfe served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, from 1951 to 1959, and was stationed in Japan.
He joined the New York Police Department in 1957, working as an officer in Brooklyn and Manhattan. He later served on the dectective squad on Staten Island, in the 120th and 122nd Precincts. Mr. Wolfe retired in 1979.
As an active member of his community, he participated in several organizations. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Sylvester's R.C. Church, Concord, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society. He also founded, directed and coached the church's CYO baseball program.
Mr. Wolfe belonged to the American Legion, Patrick J. D'Alessio Post, and was a member of the NYPD Emerald Society.
He enjoyed sports, especially watching the Mets, Rangers and Giants.
Above all, he cherished spending time with his family and always loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events.
Mr. Wolfe is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joan Murphy Wolfe; two sons, Raymond and Michael; three daughters, Patricia Ann Best, Loretta Low and Mary Lou O'Callaghan; 15 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Wednesday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a mass at 10 a.m. in St. Sylvester's. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
