Dear Ben and Family,  I am very saddened to hear of Joan’s passing.  She has left way too soon.  Joan was a most caring person who would help all those who needed her help.  One of my very best friends in Pine Ridge!  Rest In Peace, Dear Joan.

I am so sad to discover the passing of Joanie.  I grew up with Joanie on Dikeman Street in Brooklyn.  Our moms,along with her Aunts Babs and Doris were friends.  Joan and I often took the bus together as we left our homes for work.  She attended my daughters baby events before moving to Florida.  She was such a wonderful loving caring considerate person.  Yesterday I had come across a couple of old cards she had mailed me and I decided to check if her address was the same, when suddenly I saw this obituary.  Please accept my sincere condolences to her husband, the entire family, and to those Red Hookers who may remember me, especially her sister Joyce, cousins Madeline, Barbara, and Maureen.

We loved Joan from the moment we met her. She was a bright happy light,with a wonderful sense of humor.She always made you feel like she was happy to see you.Such a warm caring girl she was & loved life & my Uncle Ben as he loved her.Together they shone brightly, & we will miss her happy face & spirit. We would meet for lunch or dinner when my sister Tina would come down from Jersey & always had a great time together. A genuine warm caring person she was with a big heart.We will miss your smiling face Joanie.Rest in peace❤️

    Joanie was a special light in all of the lives she touched. She brought so much love and gales of laughter to those she met. When anyone asked something of her the answer was always “No Problem”.
     She was a “Giver of Care” to many who new and needed her. She worshiped her family and adored her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children, and her love and devotion for Ben was ever present.
  Our children and grandchildren called her Aunt Joanie and when they would visit, no gathering was complete until she came through the door with her big smile and lots of kisses, and her special dessert. She’d say “I can’t come empty handed, I’m Italian”.
Now she has left us, taking a piece of our hearts with her. The many memories we made together through the years, all the laughter and some tears will keep you lovingly with us always, Joanie.

Joan was a wonderful friend you enjoyed playing Mah Jogg and Bridge . We played almost every Friday and we entertained with her stories and Jokes.  She was a caring and thoughtful lady who loved life . I will truly miss her  May God bless  her and keep her in his arms.

We loved Joan from the first time we met her & you could see how much Joan & my Uncle Bernard loved each other.  It was a wonderful time sharing a cruise with Joan & family  to celebrate Uncle Bernards 80th Birthday...we were supposed to go to Bermuda, but because of a Hurricane, plans were changed & the cruise ship had to change direction, so we headed up into the North Atlantic; but we all had a fantastic time together and a lot of laughs..

My dear Joanie was one of my best friends in world.  We came from Red Hook and there are too, too many happy and fun memories to share.  We grew up together and, as life would have it, Joanie moved to Florida to start her new adventures.  All of us including Kathy, Gina, Joanie and Maryann were inseparable.  Joanie had a bright spirit, a devilish sense of humor and is one of the funniest people I will ever know in my life.  I love you, Joanie and will always miss you.  Love, Cheryl xo

Joan&Ben,one word really. With Joan's special brand of comic relief, they lit up every room they walked in to. Joan memories are in our hearts so when times get tough and we need a smile, Joan's spirit will show up ! Miss you doll.

Every moment we got the chance to spend with you was always cherished. You are the most warm, loving, caring, and funniest person. You always managed to take care of everyone with your golden heart. Joan was a customer my store, Harbour Bay Florist.  Her bright smile and infectious laugh were such a bright spot in our day.  Her weekly pick ups for Mrs. Dillon were a much anticipated time for all of us here at Harbour Bay Florist.  She had such a wonderful heart and a loving spirit.  We shared a love for Mackenzie-Childs and had hoped to make it to their garage sale in Aurora, New York this summer.    I will treasure her friendship forever.  I know her family will miss her greatly, but I want them to  know that her wonderful personality touched so many..... and  will be truly missed by my staff and I.

She made a difference in so many lives and we are thankful to have shared beautiful memories with her. We will miss our dear friend Joan so much. She was a caring, hardworking and a loyal person.  She could always make us laugh. She was a devoted care giver to those who needed her. We shared sad times as well as happy times together. Our favorite times were when we would meet at a restaurant and share a chilled Cosmopolitan or two and sit and talk for hours.  Joan & Ben were our partners in crime!   Taken way too soon- RIP our Joanie, our “Buttercup”. We will always have our fond memories!

Joan was a wonderful and caring person. We remember the time she included us in giving cash to a youth group at McDonalds (children of convicted felons), or the 70th Birthday Party she hosted for Doris at her house or the annual Halloween Parade parties in their driveway or the Community Christmas Party she ran for our residents.

Joan was such a nice person. Always nice to be around, and always had a smile. She was the best thing that happened to my Uncle Ben. She took such great care of him.  My favorite memory is when Joan  had me over for a Sunday dinner, and her Aunt Babs was visiting as well as Uncle Jake. We sat at the table for hours just talking and eating and enjoying one another’s company. God bless Joan, and god bless and thank you to Joan’s family for taking care of my uncle the past few months.
