Margarete Knowles of Tampa, Fla. passed away peacefully in her home on June 7, 2019 at 94 years old. She is survived by her children, Frank, George, Vicky, Richard, Patty and Billy; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; numerous extended family; and friends.
Born in Saint Jacob bei Steiermark, Austria to Georg and Aloisia Stiplovsek on June 2, 1925 to a family of 11 children. She worked in her youth at a piano store and survived a World War II bombing in Vienna. Margarete married Frank J. Knowles, MSgt U.S. Army, on September 20, 1948 and immigrated to the United States in 1953. She worked for Belk Lindsey over 30 years until retirement. Margarete loved her homeland Austria, painting, crocheting, animals, Elvis and spending time tending her rose garden. Her kind heart and sweet demeanor made her loved dearly and she will truly be missed by many. Oma, auf wiedersehen, lieben wir dich.
The family will receive friends 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, with a graveside service to be held at 2:30 p.m. in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
