

Juan ‘Johnny’ Medina, a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friends too many passed away at home in Toms River, NJ surrounded by his family on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at the young age of 84.
Juan was born on September 14, 1932 in Utuado, PR. He came to the United States in 1956 to reside in Newark for 28 years. He moved to Iselin, NJ where he lived for 22 years before settling in Toms River for the past 10 years.
He worked as a machine operator for Burry Bisquit / Interbake, a division of Quaker Oats in Elizabeth, NJ, where it produced the famous Girl Scout cookies, for 42 years until he retired in 1998. He loved baseball, especially watching the Mets, enjoyed playing dominoes and billiards, singing while playing his guitar, dancing and traveling the world. He also was an avid fan of boxing, taking trips to Atlantic City, walking his dogs and spending the holidays with family. Although Juan loved life and would have wanted to be here, we know he’s smiling down upon his family with his late son, Juan Antonio by his side.
He was a dear brother to the late Manuel, Juaquin, Antonio and Anibal and his two sisters, Adelaida and Ricarda. His only surviving sister is Zenaida who resides in Utuado, PR.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 60 years Gloria Medina (Maldonado); a loving father to Danny Medina and his wife Margarita, the late Juan Antonio Medina and his wife Grace and his precious daughter, Doris Medina who was always there as his caregiver; an adoring grandfather to Alex, Eric, Melissa, Victoria and Alexandra; and a great grandfather to Javian Medina.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 22nd from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, Dec. 23rd, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church in Toms River, NJ. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, 1 Honey Locust Drive, Lakewood, NJ.
