Winser, Greg was born on October 31, 1927 in Bakersfield, California and passed away at his home in Hermosa Beach on August 6, 2008. A life-long resident of the South Bay, Greg served in the United States Navy during WWII. After the war, he attended El Camino College and then went on to graduate from Cal Berkeley. Upon returning to the South Bay, he met Patrick Katherine Barton, whom he married in 1952. Together they had two children: Duke and Capri. Professionally, Greg was in the insurance industry his entire career, mostly as a claims analyst. He loved his work. Greg was also very involved in his community. He served eight years on the Planning Commission in Manhattan Beach. He was also a founding member of Oceanside Christian Fellowship in El Segundo.
Greg was an avid golfer and loved traveling to many parts of the world. While at home on hospice care, one of his greatest pleasures was watching his favorite team, the Los Angles Angels of Anaheim, climb to the top of the standings.
After his beloved wife Patrick passed away in 1997, he was blessed to meet Evelyn Hamilton through some mutual friends. Together they enjoyed living at both the beach and the desert. Greg commented many times that he could have never made it through his last few years without her.
Greg will be missed greatly by scores of friends, but especially by his companion Evelyn Hamilton, his son Duke (Eloisa) and daughter Capri (Richard Claridge) Winser. His grandchildren Danelle, Greg, Chuck and Keri and step-grandsons Cesar, Jose and Jesse will also miss his ready smile.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 12 at 11:00 AM at the Green Hills Cemetery Chapel, 27501 So. Western Avenue in Rancho Palos Verdes. Interment will follow at Green Hills.
