
Hector Nadal, 86, born July 20, 1924 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2011, with his wife, Marcie, and children by his side. He was an energetic, loving, family man with a passion for music, dancing and all things electrical-mechanical. One of his favorite sayings was “ I can fix anything but a broken heart.†He especially enjoyed Ham Radio, call sign K6RVO. A lifelong American patriot, Hector proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his discharge he came to California and graduated from Northrop Aeronautical Institute. He met his future wife, Marcelina Gutierrez, in the Saint Joseph Parish Amicians club, or the “Lonely Hearts†club, as Hector liked to call it. They settled in Hawthorne and were married for 59 years. Hector had a long career in the aerospace industry, traveling to Florida for many space shuttle launches, and finally retiring from TRW after 33 years of service. Hector is survived by his wife, Marcelina, sons James (Amelia), Michael (Georgette), Thomas (Maria), Daniel (Lorrie), daughter Valerie (Christopher) and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alberto and Ana Nadal. Services will be held at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Manhattan Beach on Friday March 11, 2011 beginning with a Rosary at 10:30 a.m. then Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org) or the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org).
