Louie “Lou” Roderick Galloway 83 years old passed away of natural causes January 7th, 2018 in Tucson.
He was born in Bradford, Pennsylvania to parents Louie and Emeline (Bishop) Galloway. In his earlier days in Pennsylvania he was known as “Corky”.
Lou graduated from Otto Eldred High School in McKean County, PA. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering at Western Carolina University. He also played center for the WCU Catamounts football team.
Lou was a US Air Force veteran and served from 1956 to 1960.
After his tour of duty in the Air Force, he worked for IBM as an engineer and retired after 27 years in Tucson. One of his favorite experiences while employed with IBM, was a special assignment as a teacher for one year on the Navajo Reservation.
After his retirement, Lou volunteered with the United Way and as a supervisor for his local election polling station. He was a life long democrat. He also loved to cook. For about a year he was a short order cook at a local diner! Lou could turn leftovers into a gourmet meal!
Lou was passionate about sports! One of his most memorable moments in his life was managing the Tucson Toros baseball team for one night on August 27, 1979. At the top of the last inning, Lou marched to home plate to argue a call from the umpire and kicked up some dirt and bumped the umpire. Lou was immediately ejected from the game! He was theatrical. That was Lou!
Lou was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years Amelia (Sept. 2017) and his step-son Ronnie Cueto (Feb. 2015). Lou is survived by son Devery Galloway & son Scott Galloway from his first marriage to DiAnn (Camp), daughter Page Galloway & son Russell Galloway from his second marriage to Phyllis Jenkins, step-son Michael Cueto, step-son Randy Cueto, niece Sandy Branch, nephew Brian Galloway, niece Dolly Costa, nephew Charlie Corbett, nephew Dan Corbett, nephew Steve Corbett, 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and dear friend Chad Kovacik.
There will not be a service per Lou’s request. There will be a gathering of family and close friends in Tucson and in Pennsylvania.
Arrangements under the direction of NEPTUNE SOCIETY - Tucson, Tucson, AZ.
