Frank Pooler, 74

Sidney – on Saturday January 12, 2019 Frank Joseph Pooler, a loving husband, father, grandfather unexpectedly passed away at age 74 of a sudden heart attack. Frank was born March 3, 1944 in Sidney, Maine to Alice (Brackett) and Raymond Pooler. Frank served in the Vietnam War in 1968 through 1969 and received the Bronze Star Medal.

In 1987 Frank married the love of his life Sandra (Witham) Pooler and together they raised two sons, Frank and Jimmy. Frank was a devoted father. He also had a passion for horses. He spent many years at the barn training, racing and taking care of horses. He also worked his dream job at Favorites Off Track Betting (OTB) where he met so many people who quickly became his family. Frank will forever be loved by those of us he left behind.

He is survived by his wife Sandra; three sons: Frank and his significant other of 12 years, Rose Foster; Jimmy; John; four grandchildren: Tragen, Devin, Abigail and Emma; several brothers and sisters: Raymond, Clifford, Arthur, Earl, Erwin, Arlene, Ida, Dorris, Beverly, Theresa and husband Eddie, Maxine, Jean and husband Richard.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday January 30, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta. A celebration of life will follow at VFW Post 8835, 175 Veteran Drive, Winslow.
