Dixie Antonio, 84, passed away on February 2, 2023. She was born February 15, 1938 in Denver, Colorado to Earl and Velma Keilwitz. She attended South High School. She worked at Target while raising her children, Larry and Linda, and finished her working years at Cobe Laboratories. She made her home in Bear Valley and lived there for 60 years.
Dixie loved the mountains, camping and hiking were her favorite hobbies. Mom loved to bowl, she bowled on many leagues throughout her life. Her favorite place was Rifle Falls in Colorado. She also loved the beach, especially going to the beach while visiting her brother in California. Her favorite beaches were Huntington, Newport and Balboa. She was a very conservative registered Republican, but could be counted on to listen to all viewpoints. She did not consider herself a “social” person, but those closest to her knew better-she was the glue to keeping friends and family together. In her family’s eyes she was the all-time winner of the Mother and Grandmother of the World Award.
Dixie is preceded in death by her parents, and daughter Linda Antonio who she lost at a young age to Leukemia in 1975. She is survived by her son Larry Antonio and his beautiful wife, Sharon. She is also survived by her brother, Ron Keilwitz, grandchildren, Ryan and Christy Antonio, Brooke and Shane Walter, Bobby and Richelle Antonio, Bradley Antonio and Gabby Ramer, as well as great-grandchildren Raleigh, Wilguens, Ryker, Bryatt, Scarlett and Violet. Also missing Dixie are two special Heller Cattle Dogs: Shandy and Skyler.
A Celebration of Dixie’s life will be held at the Pavilion of Reflection at Olinger Crown Hill, 7777 W 29th Ave, Wheatridge, Co 80033 on Monday, February 20. A reception will follow immediately after the service.
Please remember Dixie as full of life, living, and happiness, and through the words of this poem:
One woman leaves behind a legacy that will never be lost, for she touched so many.
She played a different role in all our lives: a mother, a sister, a grandmother and a friend.
No matter, what the love we have for her is one. Ask anyone, they’ll tell you the same; she brought
Us joy when we had pain. The strengthened love of one woman held all of us together even now more than ever.
She isn’t physically here, but we still feel her near in every step we take and every move we make. What she’s giving
to us no one can ever replace.
