Viola Ruth Haisch, who preferred to be called Ruth, was born March 31, 1927 in Sesser, Illinois. Her father was a coal miner and her mother was a housewife. The family moved to Boulder, Colorado when Ruth was four to help her mother’s asthma. Ruth had an older brother Eugene. Their father died in a coal mining accident when Ruth was nine years old. After that, her mother bought a large house and rented out rooms to help make a living during the depression. Ruth and Gene spent their summers picking blackberries and raspberries and therefore both hated blackberries and raspberries the rest of their lives! Ruth graduated from Boulder High School in 1946. Throughout her life, she worked as a waitress. At age 46, she married Bob Haisch, and they were married until Bob passed in 2010. Ruth and Bob loved to travel to visit friends and family in their RV. Ruth loved Elvis Presley and Ray Price. One of the highlights of her life was seeing Ray Price in Branson, Missouri, where she was able to go backstage, meet him, and get his autograph. She had that autographed photo hanging in her room until she passed. All who knew her will miss Ruth, they will remember her fondly for her great laugh!
