Hobie was born on September 21, 1942 in Wichita Falls to Hobert Miller and Kheva Moon. Hobie served on the Wichita Falls Police Department for 15 years and later retired from Burlington Northern Railroad as an Engineer. In 1978, he was awarded Policeman of the Year Award for his outstanding service to the community by the City of Wichita Falls. He enjoyed teaching safety courses to children and adults in the community. He was an active member of the Floral Heights Church of Christ where he professed the teachings of Christ. Hobie loved spending time with his family, fishing and his fellowship with his church family. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his soulmate of 47 years: Joni McAlllister Miller of Wichita Falls; son: Doug Miller and wife Debbie of Houston; brother: Reese Walker of Austin; step-brother: Steve Kessler of West Columbia, Texas; step-sister: Carol Seidl of Lancaster, California; 5 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 10th from 6–8 PM, at the funeral home. Celebration of Life Service will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home. Interment will be in Hampton Vaughan Crestview Memorial Park. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in memory of “Hobie” Miller to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, Texas 76310.
