After Yorkton, he returned to Kipling to help out in The Citizen, the family newspaper.
When his parents retired, Scott and his brother Michael continued to run the business until it
was bought out by Carlyle Observer.
His great sense of humor and friendly manner made him many friends. Unkind words were
not in his vocabulary.
Scott was very community minded and was a major contributor to the growth and vitality of
the town. He was the originator of the Great Saskatchewan Bacon Festival, which was a
great sucess up until the pandemic. The funds raised from the festival helped give the outside of the kids’ recreation building a facelift as well as contributing to other community committees.
In 1988 Scott and Marjorie were married and in 2000 they began to publish The Country
Register for Saskatchewan and Manitoba and carried on with the paper until it was sold in
2020 due to Scott’s poor health.
Scott is survived by his wife Marj, brother Michael (Jane) and sister Nancy (Ron); his daughter Rebecca and Marj’s two sons Christopher and Jeffrey as well as many nieces, a nephew and their families.
Many lives have been touched by Scott, who dearly loved his family, friends and home town.
A celebration of Scott’s life will be held in the near future.
