We Honor Veterans
At John Dormi & Sons, we understand the unique needs of America’s veterans and their families. As a Level Four Founding Community Partner with We Honor Veterans, we are honored to serve our nation’s heroes and take this responsibility seriously. We have taken steps to ensure our staff is knowledgeable of all the benefits available to military veterans and their families.
In addition, we host community events annually in honor of our veterans and work closely with local veterans organizations. With respect, integrity and dignity, we will walk you through the steps of creating a veteran’s memorial service that truly honors the life and sacrifice of your loved one.
The Bronx Veterans Museum
John Dormi & Sons is the unlikely—but very honored—home of the Bronx Veterans Museum. Founded by the late Joseph Garofalo, a World War II veteran, the veterans museum is housed in the lobby of John Dormi & Sons. Inside, the glass cases are filled with artifacts and memorabilia from both WWI and WWII, the Korean War and Vietnam War. Many of the items were donated by Joe and other veterans in the community.
Joe, who passed away in 2016 at the age of 95, was a fixture in the Morris Park community. After years of trying—and failing—to convince various Bronx locales to house his veterans museum, our manager at John Dormi & Sons, Chris DiCostanzo, who is a Vietnam War veteran, agreed to house the exhibit. The Bronx Veterans Museum has grown over the years, with donations from other veterans and members of the Morris Park community. If you are a veteran or have military family and friends, please visit the exhibit and share your experience with us.
