Jimmy D. McLaurin Jr. was born and raised in Clayton, North Carolina. A graduate of Clayton High School, he majored in business administration at Chowan College and in funeral service at Fayetteville Community College. Jim was licensed as funeral director and embalmer in July 1989, but began his funeral service alongside his father at the young age of 10.
He is extremely active in his community with several civic organizations. He is a 4-time past master of Granite Lodge #191 and a certified lecturer for the Grand Lodge of North Carolina. He served for 20 years with the Clayton Fire Department, including as captain, district chief and battalion chief, before retiring. Former charter president of the Clayton Jaycees, Jim is a member of the Johnston County Shrine Club, Sudan Shriners, Wrecking Crew of Sudan Shriners, Scottish Rites Bodies of North Carolina and Horne Memorial United Methodist Church.
Happily married with 5 children, Jim enjoys spending his free time with his family, cooking for friends, working in the yard and playing golf.
