    Todd Gallo

    General Manager

Todd Gallo is a second generation funeral director. Todd grew up in and around the funeral home his father managed and owned, which provided ample opportunity for exposure to all aspects of funeral service from an early age. “I think I washed my first funeral coach when I was 10,” he says. "By the time I was 24, I had painted 3 funeral homes."

Like many second generation funeral directors, entering the life of a funeral professional was a choice that was not arrived at easily for Todd. In fact, it was rather thrust upon him one summer while home from university. At that time, his parents owned and lived in the funeral home, and a sudden staff shortage led him into the business to help out. Twenty-five years later, Todd considers it a privilege to be in the business.

Throughout the years, he has been involved with, presided over or sat on the committee of sports leagues, service groups, church advisory groups, development projects, local school initiatives and has even cooked for the homeless.

Todd considers the funeral business his calling and hopes that, in some way, he has made a difference to the families he serves.

    Joseph Jacob Thiessen

    Funeral Director

Joseph (Joey) Thiessen is a funeral director and embalmer at Piercy’s-Mt. Washington Funeral Home. Joey has always enjoyed serving people. In fact, all of his past jobs have been serving—starting in a grocery store at an early age and filling many positions within the hospitality industry. Name any job in a hotel and Joey has done it—from cleaning toilets to running all hotel operations.

In 2013 Joey began looking for a career change. Although his desire was to positively contribute to his community in the non-profit sector, he lacked the necessary background. However, he found he could achieve the same goal at First Memorial Funeral Services in Victoria, British Columbia. Joey saw immediate success and was promoted to assistant sales manager of the Vancouver Island location and today he continues his contributions to society at Piercy's-Mt. Washington Funeral Home.

Joey volunteers in the children's department at Northgate Foursquare Church and hosts Korean students 10 months of the year. He is a devoted husband, father and son and a proud Mennonite, originally from North Battleford, Sask. Joey now lives in Courtenay with his amazing wife and three girls. His greatest loves are God, family, socializing and learning. Joey's idea of the perfect day would start with a game of golf, move to the mountains to snowboard and would finish on the beach to relax with loved ones.
