History

Sitting area at Veilleux Funeral HomeVeilleux Funeral Home has long provided meaningful burial and cremation services for families in Kennebec County. In 1880, what is now Veilleux Funeral Home was the home of the Honorable Cyrus W. Davis, who ran the investment firm of Davis and Smith. In 1904, Davis founded and served as the principal owner of the Waterville Sentinel, one of Maine’s leading democratic daily newspapers.

During the 1930s, the residence operated as the Kappa Delta Rho fraternity house for Colby College. In 1944, the building was purchased by Gustave and Eva Veilleux and converted to Veilleux Funeral Home.
