John Birmingham, founder of Birmingham Funeral Home in Old Town, Maine, started with a simple philosophy in 1982: Treat each family with care, compassion and dignity. Today, this mission still guides us as we create personalized memorial tributes for those who mean so much to our community.

Let's start with a story
We begin by listening to you. Inspire us with stories from life such as a treasured collection curated over decades, dedication to a career that was more of a calling or the style of music that could always be heard wafting through the kitchen. We weave these elements into a personalized tribute. Imagine one last rousing game of bingo for the person who brought joy to the local hall, week after week. Envision a baseball-themed sendoff for the world’s biggest fan, including miniature monogrammed bats for guests to keep after the service. Whatever your wish, we will do our professional best to fulfill almost any request.
Trust us to handle the details, beyond flowers and music. Professional catering, featuring a variety of delicious dishes from the caterer's collection or your own family recipes, frees you to focus on family and friends when they matter most. Host a large reunion of friends before the service or an intimate gathering of immediate family afterward—our spacious reception areas adapt to meet your needs.
We honor veterans
At Birmingham Funeral Home, we understand the unique needs of America’s veterans and their families. As a Level Three Founding Community Partner with We Honor Veterans, our staff is knowledgeable in the benefits available to veterans and their families. With respect, integrity and dignity, we will walk you through the steps of creating a veteran's memorial service that truly honors the life and sacrifice of your loved one.
A funeral home for all
Our chapel warmly welcomes families of all faiths, cultures and backgrounds. Choose a traditional religious ceremony or a contemporary celebration of life, with optional military honors for veterans who served our country. Cremation services offer an alternative—and have become an increasingly popular choice.
We stand ready to guide you through the full range of funeral options available. Please contact us if we may answer any questions, arrange a tour or assist with funeral arrangements in Old Town.
John Birmingham founded Kiley-Birmingham Funeral Home in Old Town, Maine, in 1982. Initially, Mr. Birmingham rented a house on South Main Street to be used as the funeral home, but in 1985, land was purchased and our funeral home was built at its current location on Main Street. In 1988, an addition doubled the size of the building. The funeral home's name was shortened 10 years later. Our locally-based team at Birmingham Funeral Home takes pride in being active in the community, working each day to make our town a better place to live.
