John Birmingham, founder of Birmingham Funeral Home in Old Town, Maine, started with a simple philosophy in 1982: Treat each family with care, compassion and dignity. Today, this mission still guides us as we create personalized memorial tributes for those who mean so much to our community.

Let's start with a story

We begin by listening to you. Inspire us with stories from life such as a treasured collection curated over decades, dedication to a career that was more of a calling or the style of music that could always be heard wafting through the kitchen. We weave these elements into a personalized tribute. Imagine one last rousing game of bingo for the person who brought joy to the local hall, week after week. Envision a baseball-themed sendoff for the world’s biggest fan, including miniature monogrammed bats for guests to keep after the service. Whatever your wish, we will do our professional best to fulfill almost any request.

Trust us to handle the details, beyond flowers and music. Professional catering, featuring a variety of delicious dishes from the caterer's collection or your own family recipes, frees you to focus on family and friends when they matter most. Host a large reunion of friends before the service or an intimate gathering of immediate family afterward—our spacious reception areas adapt to meet your needs.

A funeral home for all

John Birmingham founded Kiley-Birmingham Funeral Home in Old Town, Maine, in 1982. Initially, Mr. Birmingham rented a house on South Main Street to be used as the funeral home, but in 1985, land was purchased and our funeral home was built at its current location on Main Street. In 1988, an addition doubled the size of the building. The funeral home's name was shortened 10 years later. Our locally-based team at Birmingham Funeral Home takes pride in being active in the community, working each day to make our town a better place to live.

"Mike was very professional, yet down to earth. I placed several calls over 3-4 days, with what were probably simple questions but for me I had no idea what I was doing. This was the first time I have had to make arrangements and Mike made it all go super smoothly. I will definitely tell others of this great experience!"

"When it happened I didn't have any idea what to do. The funeral director came out within an hour and started by reassuring our family that everything would all be ok. They took care of so many details that we were not capable of doing at that time. With the corona virus around our funeral was limited to 10 people and that's exactly what we had. They even sent it out by internet to our daughter in Texas who was not able to fly home during quarantine and to my 85 year old mother. What a gift that was. There are no words to say how much this wonderfully personal and respectful funeral meant to our family despite the pandemic. Thankyou"
