History

Chapel at McCracken Funeral HomeMcCracken Funeral Home was founded in August 1950 by William "Bill" McCracken. He was a well-liked individual who cared for the families he served in Union, New Jersey, and the surrounding towns. As an avid golfer, Bill brought the unique look of a golf course to the surrounding landscape of the funeral home.

In 1965, Bill added to the funeral home by purchasing the building and property next door, allowing him to add 2 additional visitation rooms. Bill sold the business in 1986 to his partners, Reed Hagelin and Patrick Growney. Reed and Patrick, along with their families, operated the business as a partnership until Reed became the sole proprietor in 1993.

In 1998, McCracken Funeral Home joined the Dignity Memorial network.
