Vancouver Funeral Chapel was established in 1929 by Charles Kirch and was known as Kirch Funeral Home. Kirch had purchased the residence from Dr. Roane. The original owner of the home was a prominent banker named Hugh Phillips who relinquished the house in 1907, resulting in the residence being used for various purposes over the next several years.
In 1936, Ronald DuFresne purchased Kirch Funeral Home in partnership with Hazel Smith, one of the first licensed female embalmers in Washington state. It was at this time that the funeral home name changed to Vancouver Funeral Chapel.
Today, we are a member of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers.
