At Vancouver Funeral Chapel, we understand the unique needs of America’s veterans and their families. As a Level Four Founding Community Partner with We Honor Veterans, we are honored to serve our nation’s heroes and take this responsibility seriously. We have taken steps to ensure our staff is knowledgeable of all the benefits available to military veterans and their families.

In addition, we host community events annually in honor of our veterans and work closely with local veterans organizations. With respect, integrity and dignity, we will walk you through the steps of creating a veteran’s memorial service that truly honors the life and sacrifice of your loved one.

History

Vancouver Funeral Chapel was established in 1929 by Charles Kirch and was known as Kirch Funeral Home. Kirch had purchased the residence from Dr. Roane. The original owner of the home was a prominent banker named Hugh Phillips who relinquished the house in 1907, resulting in the residence being used for various purposes over the next several years.

In 1936, Ronald DuFresne purchased Kirch Funeral Home in partnership with Hazel Smith, one of the first licensed female embalmers in Washington state. It was at this time that the funeral home name changed to Vancouver Funeral Chapel.

Today, we are a member of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers.
