Vancouver Funeral Chapel was established in 1929 by Charles Kirch and was known as Kirch Funeral Home. Kirch had purchased the residence from Dr. Roane. The original owner of the home was a prominent banker named Hugh Phillips who relinquished the house in 1907, resulting in the residence being used for various purposes over the next several years.

In 1936, Ronald DuFresne purchased Kirch Funeral Home in partnership with Hazel Smith, one of the first licensed female embalmers in Washington state. It was at this time that the funeral home name changed to Vancouver Funeral Chapel.

Today, we are a member of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers.

"This funeral home was actually our second stop, after a nightmare experience at a local competitor earlier that day. The professionalism shown exceeds any we've ever witnessed in any industry. Both Pam and Vera handled this heartbreaking chapter of our life with understanding, patience and compassion we will never forget. We, as well as our extended family are pre-planning a portion our own arrangements--some even 'moving' those already in place--to Vancouver Funeral Chapel. The respect and gratitude we have for these employees is everlasting."
