Ladis was born March 27, 1987 in Los Angeles, CA to Manuel and Manuela (Cortez) Avila. He was raised and educated in Toppenish, graduating from Toppenish High School in 2005. He moved to Phoenix, AZ to attend the Universal Technical Institute. Our proudest moment as a family was when Ladis graduated from the Universal Technical Institute as an automotive technician. There was nothing more important to Ladis than his family. He worked two jobs to help support his family. He worked as a service technician at C.Speck Motors in Sunnyside and Parts Salesman, temporary manager at Schuck's Auto Supply on Yakima. His greatest characteristic was his willingness to always help out his friends and family. There was no task he couldn’t do, whenever anyone needed, he would always be there. Ladis loved little children and this was apparent by his closeness he had with his little sister, his little “Puji”, as in his little Fuji apple. We will always remember Ladis as the glue behind the family. There was no greater pleasure for him than spending time with family. He will always be remembered as a great man who always put the needs of others ahead of his own. Rest in peace Ladis, you may be gone, but you will always be with us in heart and mind. You will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his parents, Manuel and Manuela Avila; brothers & sisters: Bernabe Avila, Jose Avila, Angelica Avila, Marisol Avila and Cindy Avila, all of Toppenish; also half brothers & sisters, Hector Avila, Manuel Avila, Jr., Gerardo Avila and Norma Avila, all of San Diego, CA, and Maria Ascension Avila of Toppenish; grandparents, Rogelia Barajas of Zacatecas, Mexico and Bernabe Avila & Bartola Gonzalez of Zacatecas, Mexico; also numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ladislado Cortez.
