Gerry will be sadly missed, but lovingly remembered by his wife of 14 years Rhonda; his son Kurt (Kyla); along with three grandchildren Kasen, Danielle, and Jovi; sister Sharon (Lloyd), brothers Richard and Glen (Marie) and sister in-law Trudy; and numerous relatives and friends.
Gerry was predeceased by his first wife of 39 years Sheryl; his son Scott; his parents William and Margaret; and his brothers Ken and Robbie.
Friends and family would describe Gerry as generous man; a mentor who stood up for what he believed in. For the past several years, his passion has been traveling the world with Rhonda, riding his motorcycle and getting in visits with his grandkids.
Gerry met Sheryl in Edmonton and they married in 1966. They moved to Kamloops for a job opportunity in 1981, which evolved into a family business that employed his wife, two sons, brother and cousin. During this time in Kamloops, Gerry coached little-league baseball, took up snowmobiling, was an active member of the Kinsmen Club, and was also a member at the Kamloops Golf & Country Club. After they became empty nesters, Gerry retired and eventually moved to Abbotsford in 2004 to be closer to his son Kurt. After a short battle with cancer, Gerry’s wife Sheryl passed away in 2006. Gerry tied the knot with Rhonda in 2008 and they have been happily married ever since.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Surrey Memorial Hospital ICU for their care and compassion.
A celebration of life will be held at 1PM On Sunday, September 25th at Delta Marriott Hotel, 540 Victoria Street, Kamloops, BC.
