November 27, 1920 – June 23, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jenny Swanson on June 23, 2020. Jenny was born November 27, 1920 in Rife, Alberta to William & Martha Apostoluk, she had 9 sisters and 2 brothers.
She came to the Fraser Valley for the beautiful mountains and the raspberries and stayed when she met and married Leonard Swanson in 1948. They lived on the family farm on Matsqui Prairie and had 3 wonderful boys Allan, Terry and Ron. In 1965 the family moved to Abbotsford and Jenny remained in that home until the end. Jenny loved taking care of her family, cooking, baking, canning, gardening and crocheting. When her grandson Lenny was born Jenny took on being a Grandma with joy. They had many adventures together and their love for each other was like no other. She always had a cup tea and delicious baking for family, friends and anyone who came to visit. Jenny's sense of humor, jokes and resilience in life's trials made her an amazing role model for all that knew her.
She is survived by her sons Allan (Wendy) and Ron; grandson Len (Lisa) and Terry's children Caitlin, Alison & William. As well as her sisters Helen, Sadie & Doris and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Jenny is predeceased by her husband Leonard and son Terry.
'We miss you and love you, Mom / Grandma. You will always be in our hearts and we find comfort knowing you are in Heaven with Dad and Terry.'
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Holmberg Hospice or Trinity Memorial Church Abbotsford. We apologize but due to COVID 19 restrictions the internment and service will be for invited guests only.

I had the pleasure of making a service call to Mrs Swanson on behalf of Lifeline. I arrived told her who I was and told her I used to live next door 50 years ago. She immediately asked about all my family members by name ! I sat down and had a great visit with her reminiscing about the old days and catching up with her.
I am so glad I had that time with her.
My sincere condolences to the family on behalf of the Ross family.

I was so fortunate to live with Jenny whilst employed at Fraser Valley College. We shared a very close companionship and she always had a delicious meal for me at the table close by her kitchen. Together we enjoyed playing scrabble. going for drives in the countryside where she told me of her family history, shopping at Seven Oaks Mall and having lunch out... At Christmas time we always went to the Singing Christmas Tree at one of the local churches. Regularly we pottered went around her garden, noting the vegetables and flowers that were blooming, especially the delicate violets , I still have some of Jenny's tiny violets growing in my Sechelt Garden. She was so grateful to all of her family members who supported her and of course we all enjoyed her delicious baking! "And this too shall pass." was a phrase she always used. Thank you dear Jenny - with deep gratitude I will always remember you. June
