Barbara Coleen Adkisson, 69, went to be with her Heavenly Father on April 30, 2018 in Wichita Falls, Texas surrounded by her family. She was born in Odessa, Texas on December 29, 1948 to William Tivas and Thelma Phipps. She retired from the Abilene State Supported Living Center, where she worked for 28 years. She enjoyed going to casinos with family and reading books sometimes, two at a time. She loved spending time with family while camping, getting together for special occasions, working crossword puzzles, or just having a loud game of Yahtzee. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Ricky Adkisson of Abilene, TX; daughters, Tami Lusk(David Dutton), Kimberly Hair (Donald) all from Merkel, TX, Tammy Adkisson, Angela Pope (Bryan), Kimberly Davison (Mark); son, Skylor Adkisson (Heather) all of Abilene, TX; sisters, Wanell Hewitt (Everett), Norma Flynn of Austin, TX, Nancy Nay (Steve) of Monahans, TX, and Sandy Miller (Rick) of Tuscola, TX; brother Billy Phipps (Lynn) of Austin, TX; father and mother in-law, Junior and Lura Mae Adkisson of Abilene, TX; her favorite uncle, Hub Phipps; and her sweet dog, Wolfy; several nieces and nephews; 18 grandkids, Haden and Sonora Lusk, Shelly Lusk, Kayla and Austin Eaddy, Elizabeth Hair, Cody O'Dell, Hunter Crowder, Ryker Adkisson, Cloie Huntley, Drew Smith, Alexis Pope, Gabriel Pope, Levi Smith, Hunter Davison, Jarrod Acosta, Brileigh Davison and Erica Ball; 5 great-grandkids, Braxton Shipman, Bailee Eaddy, Kennedy Lusk, Aubrey O'Dell and Cashlee Hopkins. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 20 years, Jerry Israel; brothers, Clarence and Bobby Phipps; nephew, Nodin Phipps; and son-in-law, James Lusk. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South, with burial following in Cedar Gap Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 6 to 8pm on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
