Sidney R. Boatler, 71, of Abilene passed away Monday, April 9, 2018 in Abilene. A memorial service will be held at 4 PM on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 S. Abilene.
Sidney was born September 3, 1946 in Houston, Texas to Sidney Keith and Juanita Purcell Boatler. He graduated high school in Topeka, Kansas and went on to serve in the Unites States Army during the Vietnam War. After his service to the country, he attained his Bachelor’s Degree in psychology from the University of Texas and then continued in his quest for education and earned his Master’s Degree in psychology from Abilene Christian University while working for Abilene State Supported Living Center. Once he graduated from ACU, he began working for Betty Hardwick Center until his retirement. His loves included animals and his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Remaining behind to cherish his memory is wife, Rita Boatler; his son, Keith Boatler and wife Kate; his daughter, Stephanie Alvey and husband Jeff; his brother, Robert Boatler and wife Jeannie; his grandchildren, Karlee, Emelia, Anastin, Ian, and one on-the-way.
