Charles A. Spicer, SR, 78 of Albion, passed away on August 21, 2013 at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall with his loving family by his side. He was born December 20, 1934 in Vicksburg, Mississippi to Napoleon and Rosa Lee (Haggard) Spicer. Charles married Joyce J. Thomas; she survives.
He worked at Harvard Industries from 1963 to 1987 leaving due to disability. Charles was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Albion where he served as a dedicated and faithful usher. He could be counted on to be at his post and would greet and welcome all who entered the church with a warm and sincere smile. Charles was loved and respected by the membership as he served the congregation with love. He was a mentor and a friend. He could be counted on to be honest and would impart his wisdom about life and the duties of man. He would tell stories of life experiences and was known as an encourager. He had a sense of humor and enjoyed watching sitcoms and westerns.
Charles loved his family; his wife, children and grandchildren were the highlights of his life. He was loved and will be sorely missed. Survivors include:

sons, Wade (Jeanette) Spicer, Timothy (Shawnette) Spicer, and
Charles Augustus Spicer JR,
daughter, Leslie (Glen) Williams
grandsons, Jamel, Wesley, Justin, Ti, Jayden, Amari, Chris and Dominique,
granddaughters, Saraya and Cydney (Charles’ Princess)
Goddaughter – Samantha Sims
brothers, Napoleon (Faye), and William Lee (Edna),
sisters, Fannie, Jane, Letila and Doris,
extended family, Lee Thomas, Gwen and Jordi Green, the Brewer family, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers - James, L.T., Julius and Roosevelt; and two sisters - Sarah and Mandy.
Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 PM Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at Grace Temple Church of God in Christ, 711 Grace Street, Albion, with Pastor Fred H. Alexander, JR officiating. Family Hour will be 11:00 AM until time of service at the church. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Albion.
