Born in Struthers, Ohio, July 7, 1925, Helen Louise Brittain, having lived a long life of strong faith and prayer, went to be with the Lord on July 29, 2024, at the age of 99 in Lenoir City, Tennessee. After the loss of her husband of 28 years, she became the heart and soul of her family of 8 siblings, 4 children, 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends who loved her devotedly.
Living most of her life in Texas, she enjoyed and excelled at crocheting, painting, crafting, and gardening, but her greatest joy was cooking for her beloved family who gathered on Sundays at her table along with nieces and nephews. Everyone agreed she was the best cook in the state of Texas. Her secret to great cooking rested in praying nourishment over each and every dish, planting seeds of faith and yearning for God.
Her vigilant prayer for all whom she welcomed into her home was a deep desire to know and draw closer to the Lord. Exemplifying a constant reminder that God blesses us to become a blessing to others, her children and grandchildren often found her in the middle of the night or early in the morning watching Christian television and reading her Bible which she called her spiritual food. Even in her lowest moments, she never lost her faith.
Her presence was a radiant light, raising the spiritual level of all whose lives she touched by carrying their burdens through daily sacrificial intercessory prayer and unconditional love. Sharing the word of God and the love of Jesus with her family, while praying over each one by name, is the greatest spiritual gift she gave them.
Undoubtedly, her family and loved ones are living out those very prayers. She is now the angel of angels, absent from her body but present with the Lord. Her unfailing love for our Savior assured her a golden ticket to heaven where she awaits those who will join her at the marriage supper of the Lamb. What a day of rejoicing that will be!
In lieu of flowers, please hug your family often and keep focused on God's word.
