The family will receive friends in the Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories on Thursday, May 24, 2018 from 5 pm to 7 pm.
Dean was born on February 06, 1932 in Alliance, Nebraska to Ewald and Violet Loeffelbein. He grew up in Huron, South Dakota where he was a multisport athlete in high school. After high school graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He graduated from Huron College with a Bachelor’s Degree in business. On May 26, 1955 he married Phyllis Nelson, and together they raised six children while remaining married for 63 years. He was a life-long member of the American Legion. Dean was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and anything to do with the outdoors. He coached his son’s in their city league sports and owned and operated Northern Sporting Goods Store for many years.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Alta, and daughter Laura Lee. Those left to cherish his memory are his bride of more than six decades Phyllis; sons James Dean and wife Terrie of Overland Park, KS, and John Allen and wife JoAnna of Olathe, Kansas; daughters Linda Jean of Amarillo, Lois Ann Atkins and husband Tony of Bryan, Texas, Janet Kay Cubitt of Amarillo, and JoAnn Marie Cochennet and husband Steve of Amarillo; 16 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many other family members.
