In Randall’s earlier days, he worked on his family farm and served in the U.S. Army before beginning his career with the Texas Employment Commission, now known as the Texas Workforce Commission, where he would go on to serve for over 30 years before his retirement in 1996.
Randall was one to ‘never meet a stranger’ and was a great storyteller. If you had the chance of getting to meet him, you’d know everything about him, and he would be just as interested to learn everything about you. Randall was an avid reader of Western history and got a great deal of enjoyment out of sharing his newfound knowledge on the subject at every chance he could. Randall was a kind soul and will truly be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Randall is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Kaye Mardis in November of 2013, parents Matthew Luther and Sarah Frances Mardis, six sisters and five brothers.
Left on this earth to carry on his legacy are his son Brent Mardis and wife Nathalie of Aurora, Colorado, daughter Missy Virgilio and husband Jay of Spring, Texas, grandchildren Zach, Ben, Sara and Elizabeth, step-grandchildren Drew, Amber and Vance, great-grandchild Aiden, 5 step great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Randall will be held Monday, September 26, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 Interstate 40 East, Amarillo, Texas 79118 with Dr. Hal Rogers officiating.
